MAJ Foundation

The MAJ Foundation was created as a space for encounter between cultures, languages, and sensibilities, where art is understood not only as expression but as a tool for building deep connections between people, places, and imaginaries. Established in Switzerland, the foundation supports cultural and artistic projects that cross geographical and disciplinary boundaries, fostering dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, memory and future, and diverse identities.

Founded in 2024 by Vivake Gupta, Amine Bendriouich, and Mattia Marco Conconi, the MAJ Foundation was born from a shared vision: to create a living platform where diversity becomes a generative force and dialogue a concrete form of creation. The name MAJ, short for Mudita, Agape, and Jamal, brings together three concepts from different spiritual and cultural traditions, expressing joy in others’ happiness, unconditional love, and beauty as a divine principle. Together, they reflect the foundation’s core values of generosity, love, and beauty as universal forces that transcend cultures and beliefs.

The Legend of Takatsukasa is the first project officially supported by the foundation and marks the beginning of its operational journey. It is a narrative project in the form of a graphic novel that brings together historical research and visual storytelling. MAJ Foundation supports the project through direct funding of the development phase, covering research materials, illustration work, and the production of the first visual contents. The foundation also accompanies the creative process through continuous dialogue with the artists and collaborators involved.

Alongside this project, MAJ Foundation is also involved in the creation of an artists’ residency in the historic center of Florence. Situated in the city where the Renaissance established a new relationship between art, science, and human knowledge, the residency is conceived as a laboratory for contemporary research and experimentation. Designed as a space for investigation, production, and cultural exchange, the residency will host international artists whose practices move between artistic inquiry and scientific exploration. It is also envisioned as a place to test new forms of positive communication and shared social experience, exploring how creative practices can generate new models of connection, participation, and collective imagination.
